What has made our lives very convenient has, ironically, made it necessary for us to detoxify or regularly undergo detoxification programs. Simply put, your body is processing more chemicals than it can handle.

In a 1992 study entitled Literature Review & Comparison Studies of Sauna/Hyperthermia in Detoxification by Zane R. Gard, M.D. & Erma J. Brown, BSN, PhN, the last 200 years has seen the chemical contamination of the environment.
The study identifies that there are over 70,000 chemicals being chemically produced. Of these, 3,000 are added to food and over 700 are added to drinking water. And during food processing and storage, over 10,000 other chemical compounds in processed foods like spam and hotdogs.

But the chemical invasion doesn’t stop there. There are over 4 million chemical compounds and many of them are being used in industrial production, medicine, herbicides, pesticides, radiation technology (x-ray), and insecticides.

Why You Should Worry: They Stay On

A wealth of scientific evidence shows that thousands of drugs, preservatives and pesticides and other chemical pollutants remain stored in the body long after we are exposed to them.

The EPA itself found 400 chemicals in human tissue, with 48 found in adipose tissue, 40 in breast milk, 73 in the liver and over 250 in the blood. Most chemicals stay 20 to 50 years in human body fat. When we are stressed, these chemicals re-enter the body during times of stress.

The EPA warns that most of these chemicals are dangerous even at small levels. Unfortunately, the body has no natural mechanism to break them down, much less eliminate them. While some chemicals are water-soluble while others are fat-soluble and accumulate in the body’s fatty tissue.

The Case For Detoxification

Accumulation of these toxins alters the body’s homeostasis and when this happens, the body reacts by becoming sick. “Sickness” is actually the body’s natural reaction to restore its equilibrium. Under normal circumstances, the body should be restored to its normal healthy state after healing.

However, environmental pollution, nutritional deficiency and other factors all contribute to the body being unable to recover from diseases. And we are seeing a host of bodily damages resulting from chemical exposure, including: cancers of practically every organ in the body, leukemia, liver disease, pulmonary damage, anemia and blood changes, nervous system diseases, damage to the immune system, psychological damage, reproductive and fertility impairment, and kidney malfunctioning.

The benefits of detoxification are very well-known. Detoxification programs circulate the toxins and eliminate them from the body. Here is one such detoxification program.
